In  the Lygaeus (XX/XY)
   mode  of  sex  determination  the  heterogametic sex (the male in this
   example)  is XY and produces different gametes with either an X or a Y
   chromosome

   Females are homogametic (XX).

   The offspring sex ratio is 1:1.
