The chemical reaction catalyzed by DNA polymerase I.
   In  a  reaction  discovered  by  Kornberg (Nobel 1959) et al. a single
   nucleotide  is  added  to  the growing complement of the DNA template,
   using a nucleoside triphosphate as the substrate.
