Pre-mRNAs  that contain group I introns are called ribozymes: they can
   catalyze  their  own  splicing  by  self-excision  in  a  series  of 2
   transesterification reactions.

   Folding  of  the RNA chain exposes a Guanosine nucleotide in an active
   site within the intron.
