1. The repressor monomer contains an inducer-binding site.

2. A repressor dimer binds to 2 segments of operator DNA.

3. The repressor and CAP bind to the operator regions O₁ and O₃, creating a repression loop of promoter DNA.

Note the DNA forms a loop.
