The  promoter  contains several elements, including GC, CAAT, and TATA
   boxes.  The  TATA  box  (or  core promoter) is where RNA polymerase II
   binds, and is composed of 7 or 8 AT base pairs.
   Mutations in these elements reduce transcription levels.
