Migration as a force in evolution.

   The  B  allele  of the ABO locus is present in a gradient from east to
   west.

   This allele shows the highest frequency in Central Asia and the lowest
   is in northeastern Spain.

   The  gradient  parallels  the  waves  of  Mongol migration into Europe
   following the fall of the Roman Empire and is a genetic relic of human
   history.
